Libertines Reunion dates!

After days of teasing fans with news of a potential reunion, The Libertines have confirmed they will reform to play Hyde Park this summer.

Pete Doherty and Carl Barât will reunite to top the bill at the British Summer Time Event on Saturday 5 July.

The band will be supported by The Pogues, Spirtualized, Maximo Park and The Enemy, and join already-confirmed headline acts Black Sabbath and Neil Young on the five day line-up.

Writing on their Facebook page, they said: “It’s official…The good ship Albion is setting sail sooner than you thought. We’re HEADLINING BST Hyde Park, 5th July… London, brace yourself for the gig of the bleedin’ summer!”

But the news will not have come as a shock to fans, as The Libertines have hinted heavily that a reunion gig was on the cards.

The band posted a map of Hyde Park on their Facebook page on Monday, followed by an article about Barât telling fans to “Keep 5 July free”.

The foursome, who last reunited in 2010 to perform at Reading in Leeds, split a decade ago after releasing Don’t Look Back into The Sun and Can’t Stand Me Now.

Doherty went on to form the Babyshambles, but became better known for his drug abuse problems and relationship with Kate Moss.

Barât formed Dirty Pretty Things with Libertines drummer Gary Powell, Anthony Rossomando and Didz Hammond.

The group achieved cult status on the UK music scene and scored top 40 hits with singles “Time for Heroes” and “Don’t Look Back Into The Sun”.

Tickets go on sale a week today at, although some pre-sale tickets will be available earlier in the week.
